If you guys don’t already know how I feel about perfume, catch up here. Spoiler alert – perfume is one of my favorite things in life. A perfume smells the same in every bottle, but gives off a totally different scent on everyone when it mixes with their pheromones. I mean, how cool is that? It’s personal and intimate which is the MOST chic.
A lot of people may disagree with me on this, but I personally think perfumes are worn best based on season for the most part. Warmer, spicier scents just make more sense in the colder months in my opinion. For example, I would never wear Dior Addict during the summer just because it’s so intense, especially in the heat.
So for the past few weeks, I’ve popped into Sephora here and there to do some perfume testing. Let me tell you, I’ve found divine fragrances and also some very very not divine fragrances. Don’t forget that Sephora will give you free samples of any scent!
After my extremely hard work (I’m not kidding, it actually was really difficult), I’ve narrowed it down to these 7 perfumes that I think you should absolutely try out for fall and winter!
‘REPLICA’ Lipstick On by Maison Martin Margiela
‘REPLICA’ Beach Walk was actually on my summer perfume favorites list. Lipstick On is very feminine and unlike anything I’ve really ever smelled – in a good way, of course. I’m always drawn to vanilla notes in the colder weather. And how lovely is the simplicity of the bottle?
Notes: Bergamot Oil, Heliotrope Accord, Neroli Oil, Orange Flower Absolute, Iris Concrete, Galbanum Oil, Tonka Bean Absolute, Vanilla Bourbon Extract, Patchouli Oil.
Cost: 3.4oz at $125.00
CHANEL COCO NOIR by Chanel
Chanel. Always a classic. However, Chanel No. 5 is an extremely mature scent that I don’t really feel comfortable wearing at 24. COCO NOIR is much more youthful.
Notes: Grapefruit, bergamot, rose, jasmine, Indonesian patchouli, sandalwood.
Cost: 1.7oz at $98.00
Angel Eau de Toilette by Mugler
This is definitely one that you either fall in love with or you loathe for life. No in-between. I personally can’t get enough of Angel. It’s hard to find gourmand scents that don’t turn sickly over time. This one has a unique type of sweet sexiness to it. The description online reads “Carnal. Addictive.” I couldn’t agree more.
Notes: Bergamot, Patchouli, Vanilla, Cedar, White Musk, Peppery Pink Berries, and Candied Praline.
Cost: 1.4oz at $68.00
Si by Armani
I know I said this was going to be a fall/winter post, but this fragrance is really versatile. It’s light and I think works really well for all seasons. It’s very wearable and fresh, but with some warmth.
Notes: Pear, Freesia, Amber Wood.
Cost: 1.7oz at $75.00
BLACK ORCHID by TOM FORD
This is definitely an evening scent. Something for a special night out somewhere ritzy. It’s very sensual and spicy. Trust me if you wear this out, people are going to notice you. And in the best way possible.
Notes: Black Truffle, Black Orchid, Black Plum, Noir Gourmand Accord, Patchouli.
Cost: 1.0oz at $82.00
Nirvana Rose by Elizabeth and James
Rose is not for everyone, but I think Mary Kate and Ashley really got it right. It’s a very wearable rose – not so grandma-y, you know? I have been a long time fan of ther Nirvana perfumes (Nirvana Black is in my perfume collection), and I’m so glad they came out with 2 new ones this season. If you lean more towards floral scents rather than sweet, this is a gorgeous option.
Notes: Rose de Mai, Geranium, Vetiver.
Cost: 1.7oz at $85.00
Amber Musk by Aerin
I was wary of sharing this one, but I love you guys. Secrets are just no fun, right? I have been wearing this scent since June and get compliments on it all the time. I originally thought that this was going to be more of a fall/winter scent, but it’s proven otherwise that it can be worn all year long. It’s warm, subtle, and sexy. Like I’ve said before, I can’t say no to a musk. I talked about this other amazing Aerin fragrance in this post, so check it out!
Notes: Ambrox, coconut water, rose centifolia absolute, benzoin, musk.
Cost: 1.7oz at $115.00
