Bonjour mes amours!
Let’s chit-chat about one of my FAVORITE topics today – perfume. I’m giddy just typing the word.
Perfume – ah. As you guys know, it’s a beauty item I treasure dearly. Scent is such a powerful sense that brings me to reminisce on good times, bad times, wild times…just all the times, really. I love when I get a whiff of a perfume and it reminds me of a person or transports me to a specific time in the past. There’s just something very intimate, luxurious, and mysterious about perfume. I love how it smells different on every single person. I truly could go on and on, but I’ve already done so in this post and this post.
For years now, I have been drawn to musk-based perfumes. Musk alone is a relatively soft scent. Think of it like your perfect nude lipstick – it seems to enhance your natural pheromones in my experience. But when musk is paired with other notes like jasmine, patchouli, or vanilla it becomes very spicy, sexy, but still classic.
Musk is the one scent that I always tend to get compliments on. With my body chemistry, it just works. Florals on the other hand…NOT good for me. Moral of the story – find what works for you and stick with it!
**Quick tip – if you love a perfume, but it doesn’t smell good when it mixes with your natural pheromones, don’t spray directly on your skin. Spray it on your clothes and the ends of your hair. This way, the organic scent isn’t altered!**
OKAY, let’s get to it. These are some of my favorite musk perfumes right now that I am continually alternating through. What’s amazing is these are all very cost-friendly too. You’re welcome in advance.
If you read this post awhile back from my Nightly PampeRR Series, you know how much I am obsessed with this perfume. When I step out of the shower, I immediately spritz my body with it. I love when my night-gowns/slips and sheets smell of it. It’s a very light musk that’s good for anytime really.
Notes: Pure cruelty-free Musk
Yes, there is a trend here. The Body Shop has SEVERAL musks and this is my other favorite. This one is a bit more sexed-up from the White Musk, but still not overbearing for daytime. This is what I usually wear to the office because it’s light, but has a nice warmth to it.
Notes: Musk, Sparkling Pepper, Cinnamon, Tobacco
Not enough to say about this one. This is a real classic musk. I always get compliments when I wear this one. This is definitely a bit heavier than The Body Shop musks, but it’s still so warm and clean. It comes in an eau de toilette and an oil, which I love. You guys know I love an oil situation.
Notes: Bergamot Nectar, Orange Blossom, Rose, Lily, Ylang-Ylang, Neroli, Tonka Nut, White Patchouli, Musk
You probably have preconceived notions about this scent based on the name, but contrary to popular belief this does not smell like marijuana. However it is a fairly heady perfume, as it has notes of patchouli, vetiver, and vanilla musk. Surprisingly this is a men’s fragrance, however lots of women wear it – one of those women being yours truly. It’s a very sexy perfume that I would reserve for the evening hours.
Notes: Wild Strawberries, Kumquat, Dark Plum, Patchouli, Magnolia, Rose, Chocolate, Vetiver, Vanilla Musk.
What is your go-to scent? What notes work best on you?? I always love trying new things, so let me know!
