Bonjour mes amours!
Let’s talk skincare. Taking care of my face and skin was ingrained in my head at a very young age. My mom always, and I mean ALWAYS, forced me to wash my face in the AM and PM and to ALWAYS remove my makeup. I had a very regimented routine from the age of 11 pretty much and I’m SO thankful for that.
Now…as I’ve gotten older, have I switched up my products and added to my routine? Yes. But not too dramatically! In my teen years I had combo/oily skin, but as I’ve gotten older my skin has become much more normal. I think that happens to a lot of people? I also tend to have more sensitive skin so I’m very cautious with the products I’m using. The least amount of chemicals/ingredients the better!
Alright now let’s get to it. Here is a breakdown of my skincare routine, AM and PM. It’s SO easy I swear.
Step 1: Cleansing (AM and PM). I am currently using the Glossier Milky Jelly cleanser and could not be more happy with it. I use this morning & night. It smells like sweet rose, but it isn’t overpowering. It does a great job removing makeup, but I never feel like my face is stripped of its natural oils.
Step 2: Removing any makeup remnants (typically PM). This is something I do at night (unless I still have some eyeliner/mascara smudging in the morning). I will take a cotton pad of Simple Cleansing Micellar Water and quickly go over my face, jawline, and neck. DO NOT forget the jawline and neck because that’s where a lot of foundation buildup can happen throughout the day.
Step 2 ½ (LOL not for everyday): Masking (typically PM). This is also something I usually only do at night unless I am prepping for an event. For a regular weeknight, I will typically use this tea tree mask 3 times a week. If I’m going out for the evening and want especially glowy skin, I can’t rave enough about the Laneige Multiberry Yogurt Repairing Mask. Or after a night out rendezvousing and you need some hydration all up in your skin, this is perfect.
Step 3: Serum-ing (PM). Is that a word? Who cares. I use this in the PM only. I put this up on my Snapchat yesterday (@rrollolazo), but the Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Treatment is a gift from above I swear. Have dark spots? Buh-bye. Uneven skin? See ya. Worried about wrinkles? Yeah, don’t. I will never NOT buy this product again. TIP: do a small test spot on your neck to see how your skin reacts. If all is good, start by using the product 2-3 times a week and then increase weekly use if necessary. I started out with 2 days for the first few weeks then increased to 4 days a week. I currently use it about 6 times a week.
Step 4: Moisturizing (AM and PM). If I hear one more person tell me that they don’t use moisturizer because it “makes their skin oily”, I will slap them. No offense. Moisturizing is ESSENTIAL after every time you cleanse your face aka AM and PM. They go hand-in-hand like PB&J, okay? I use the CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion. It’s been around for years – super basic (in a good way) without harsh fragrance or chemicals.
And there you have it! Now is that so hard? Don’t be lazy with your skin, period. The more regimented your routine is, the healthier your skin will be! Makes sense, right? Let me know in the comments below if you use any of these products and what skincare tips you have, too!
