While I’m not much into following all of the latest trends, the off-the-shoulder top trend for summer is one that I have really been into. I hit up Zara, naturally, before we left on our Mexico vacay and was drawn to this one, partly because it’s in my favorite summer sixteen color. I’m very broad-shouldered so I wasn’t sure that an off-the-shoulder would be flattering, especially with the ruffle sleeve. Because it drapes low on the arm rather than sitting parallel across my shoulders, this one works. And because it has straps, I wasn’t constantly tugging at it to stay down.
I also tend to wear my hair up a lot. I think accentuating the shoulders and collar bones adds a lot of femininity to a look without trying too hard. Annnnddd the humidity from being on the ocean was insane, so up the hair went.
A tastefully ripped and cropped skinny jean is always one of my style go-tos as well. There’s nothing worse than jeans that look like they’ve been through the wood chipper. More is NOT always more. I picked up this pair from TJMaxx a few years ago and have fallen in love with them. They are by ABS by Allen Schwartz.
MULES. I can’t say enough about them. Well, at least about this pair by Vince Camuto. Although they’re fairly high, it’s a block heel so there’s more surface area for your heel to spread out across – science, babes. I am not a huge fan of wedges, but the comfort of them is undeniable. This block-heel mule is a chic alternative to the wedge if you want to try something a little different. Definitely a must-have shoe for me.
Are you guys into the off-the-shoulder trend? How do you style it? Let me know in the comments below!
