I’ve talked about her in probably 18 of my blog posts already, but I can’t help it. Lauryn Evarts of The Skinny Confidential has been a MAJOR inspiration to me for a number of reasons and I have been dying to talk about it. I mean secrets, secrets are just no fun, right?
Quick breakdown: The Skinny Confidential is a health & lifestyle blog started & run by Lauryn Evarts. I noted this in my Podcast post, but she talks about everything from healthy recipes to business advice to cupping. EVERYONE can get something out of her blog which is why I am obsessed. She also has her nutrition degree, so she knows her stuff. This will come into play in a little bit.
I’m going to come out and say it. Without finding The Skinny Confidential and listening to the business advice on the Him & Her Podcast, I never would have launched my blog. That’s a pretty bold statement, I know, but it’s 100% the truth. There was so much back & forth in my head about how I wanted to start my blog, and her business advice and experience motivated me to finally get it up and running.
There are thousands upon thousands of bloggers that exist online, but there’s a reason for the ones that are successful. Sometimes it’s a little hard to pinpoint why, but they just have that “It” factor. She is definitely among the few. So, let’s talk about it, okay?
For one, Lauryn’s aesthetic is on point. Seriously. Visually, she has really nailed down her brand. There are, again, thousands of people who exist on Instagram with the same black & white minimalistic vibe, but there is NO personality to it. I know you know what I am talking about! They all look exactly the same and provide no value other than something pretty to look at every once and awhile. SNOOZE FEST. Lauryn always provides some sort of value in her Instagram posts whether it’s a quick recipe breakdown, beauty advice, or a workout tip with an airy elegance to it.
To go into more depth on this, TSC provides something that a lot of blogs don’t – personality and authenticity. I LOVE her writing. Lauryn’s posts are always very smart and funny, and provide actual value. Novel, right? You can just tell that the way she writes is the way that she speaks. Authenticity, people. In a world where we have so much content available at our fingertips, we can’t be wasting our time with stuff that doesn’t provide any positive value to our lives. Needless to say, unless I truly believe that it is the key to the fountain of youth, you won’t see me doing any tea detox promotions or things of that nature.
The ONE thing that is amazing to me is her connection with her followers, which is one of my main priorities with my blog. You can almost guarantee that every Snapchat message (unless it’s a dick pic, you perv), every tweet, every blog post comment, etc. that you write…she will respond. Who does that?!? It’s incredible really. Lauryn is so interactive with her followers which is 100% why she is so good at what she does. When she Snapchat messages me back, I fangirl everytime. No shame.
Soooooo now for the really fun stuff. Lauryn created The Skinny Confidential Bombshell Body Plan to get your bod in the best shape EVER. It’s a full guide including food options & recipes, supplement suggestions, the workouts, and so much more. I mean “Bombshell” pretty much sold me on it.
I am SO excited to announce that I have been testing the waters on the the body plan to give you guys my own personal review. Spoiler alert: the love is real. I am lucky enough to be able to share my favorite recipe with you guys! NOTE: this recipe is v exclusive to the guide so get stoked that you get a mini recipe sneak-peak.
Spicy Brussels Sprouts Salad (Approximately 280 calories per serving)
Salad Ingredients: (serves 2)
- 1 lb Brussels sprouts raw, sliced thin
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 1/2 cup pine nuts*
- a few dashes of organic red pepper
- 1 tbsp sun dried tomato jalapeño sauce/spread/dip/dressing by majestic garlic**
- 1 jalapeño
- 1 tbsp Trader Joe’s Balela sauce
*I have been using pumpkin seeds because my grocery has been out of pine nuts for some reason
**I had Annie’s Lite Goddess dressing available at home and it’s a similar taste, so I’ve been using it up!
The guide is chock full of yummy recipes like this that are super skinny and taste delicious. Being healthy doesn’t mean eating 3 pieces of lettuce a day and having a pressed juice. The guide is set up for you to be able to eat around 5-6 meals a day. Since I eat every effing 30 minutes this is ideal for me.
This is just a little intro into The Bombshell Body Plan, so trust me there is a full review coming. I’ve just been giving it some time to see how my body reacts and such, ya know? Gotta give you guys my full two cents on this. In the meantime you can check out more deets on the guide here!
Stay tuned for my full review coming soon 🙂
